Our Heritage

345 Years

Founded in 1681, the White Horse & Griffin served as the first coaching inn from Whitby to York and London, hosting travellers for nearly three and a half centuries.

Historic Guests

Captain James Cook and William Scoresby hired their North Pole expedition crews here. Charles Dickens visited this Grade II Listed building, now lovingly restored.
